Easy to say and very hard to deliver unless you build with Kris Waldron. We needed to build a back deck and engaged Kris early in the piece and he worked with us right through the engineering and certification stage. This was an unexpected surprise and sure saved us time and money (and some grief!) Kris and his team did a “perfect” job on the deck and we had some fun along the way. All was explained at each stage and the site was kept clean. Many friends have commented on the fantastic job and even my engineer mate still cannot believe the attention to detail and all the little extras that should go into a job like this. He is highly skilled with timber construction and the quality of the work is very good. Kris is a great communicator and project management, with the project coming in on time despite extra works and unforeseen issues that crop up in any modification & extension project. Guildsman Traditions key point of difference to our competitors is that we will handle absolutely everything from first point of contact to design, engineering, the entire construction – from earthworks, slab, log construction and installation and complete build of the rest of your log home to handing you the keys. Everyone else in this space will only carry out the log construction component of your project. You are then left to contract a builder (who will not be familiar with log construction) for rest of the project or become an owner builder.
We also have the 50years experience of Artisan Log and Timber homes to draw upon and their amazing 5 acre facility.
Artisan Log and Timber Homes will supply the design and drawings working collaboratively with yourself and Guildsman Traditions. We use a local engineer for the structural design. Artisan Log and Timber Homes cut and build the log structure in their BC facility. While they are carrying out that work GT will be busy getting a slab / floor down. Once the log work is completed it will be dismantled packed and shipped to Australia. Once onsite Artisan we send a couple of staff over and assist Guildsman Traditions carpentry crew to install the logs. Guildsman Traditions will then continue with the completion of the project managing all trades, materials and certification.

A full scribe log home is a traditional log style home where the logs are stacked together horizontally to form the walls. Each log has a hand-cut groove cut into its underside so it can be fit and secured to the log below. Full scribe log homes offer amazing energy-efficient thermal characteristics while the physical mass can withstand anything Mother Nature can throw at it.
Post and beam log homes and cabins use full logs as a structural support providing a natural log surface inside and outside the home. Fewer logs are used compared to a full scribe making these homes a great cost-effective alternative to full scribe log homes.
